How do you do this?

Don't you sometimes wish you had a wise old person, or for that matter, a wise and very adept young person, at your beck and call to help you with the stupefying matters of being a full member of the robotic world?

I watch in utter amazement when young people sit down in front of computors and take control of a mouse and key board. They all look like Tom Cruise in Top Gun - I know, I know I'm dating myself. But they're masters, and they're naturals. They make any body over 30 feel like I did when, at 39, I was first confronted with the art of skiing! Stood on the nursery slope of a ski resort and watched as the little pikkanins of pre-school age whipped past me on their little ski's. Free and at home as dophins in the ocean!

Any road, I'm beginning this blog to join the world of bloggers. Yes. That's a good reason enough. And to make contact with people who write and who read books. Because that's my main occupation. I write - have been for ever and think I will die doing that - and I read.

The stuff I write is not high literature, it aims firstly to entertain and then to inform. I've been a journalist for Afrikaans magazines and newspapers all my life and have just published my first work of true fiction. Being South African this book could not be anything but about crime, mixed up a little with politics, mixed in with a little bit of history and African lore. But its entertainment in the first place - being a murder mystery/crime novel.

I'm busy with the second, but that's a story for another day!
